The next night Kitty drove back to Manhattan. Walking back to Up Above and during that long ride up in the elevator Kitty still wasn't sure what she was getting into. She had grabbed all the papers she could've imagined to need and wrote herlsef a job aplication for waitressing at the club. She didn't lie to Tommy when she said she had been doing that in a cafe when she was younger but she was never any good at it. Hairdressing was her calling if there was such a thing but maybe she needed a new direction in her life and maybe this could've been it. If she got the job. Her main goal was still to find those vampires Nigel had mentioned but in case they didn't show up working at night could probably help her find some other creatures of the night.
- Well there you are! Tommy shouted with a happy tone as soon as the elevator doors opened.
- Here are all the papers you asked for. Kitty said and started going through her big hand bag.
- Great, leave them on my desk and I'll try to find you a t-shirt. We don't exactly have a working uniform in here, but everybody wears the same t-shirt... Yo' Sandy! Come over here! Tommy elled at some girl few feet away. The girl started walking towards Tommy. Kitty went to put the papers on Tommy's desk.
- Sandy here is going to help you with getting started. I'm going to check on you later. Tommy said from the doorway and walked away.
- I'm Sandy, here's your shirt. The girl said. She was a tall girl with long blonde hair.
- I'm Kitty. Kitty said and took the shirt.
- Come on. I'll show you where to change and leave your coat. Sandy said and started walkint towards what turned out to be a changing room for female workers.
- Don't worry. This place is okay to work in. I'm sure you can manage. Do you know how to mix drinks? Sandy asked.
- Ermm... No. Not yet, I mean. But I'm learning, I learn real fast. Kitty said.
- Okay. To be honest, that's kinda something you should master, but don't worry I'll help you for tonight. If I can. Who knows Tommy might hire you even though you can't do everything. We desperately need more help in here.
- Really. Why? Are you just starting or...
- Well... I probably shouldn't talk about it but a few people quit and some are just not picking up the phone, you know...
- So you've lost some workers. Kitty couldn't help but wonder if that had something to do with any supernatural things least of all vampires.
