Kitty stood still in the elevator scared to even think what was going to happen next. What if she was heading straight to a vampire's nest and would find herself in the middle of an ambush. She would get herself killed or worse, what ever that was.
Then the elevator stopped and the doors slowly opened. Kitty was afraid of stepping out but she did it anyway. The doors closed again right behind her but she was afraid to walk any further. She looked around the dark corridor and saw some light coming from few different directions. Where was she supposed to go?
- Come on in! Kitty heard a man's voice say. Erm.. where, she thought and looked around again.
- Hi! I'm here, come on in. A man's head popped out around the corner and invited her in. She slowly started walking towards the man.
- I'm Tommy, please come on in and sit down. The man said reaching out his hand to shake Kitty's hand. Kitty shook his hand and was relieved to see that he was just a regular guy and not a stalking vampire. She sat down still not knowing what she was doing there. Tommy was a muscular man with short dark hair. He had a piercing hole in his left ear but no earring. He sat down behind a desc full of all kinds of papers. The room looked like an office.
- I'm really sorry, what's your name again? Tommy asked and started going through his papers.
- Umm... Kitty.
- Kitty? right, I... I'm really sorry I have so many interviews scheduled that I have totally forgotten about you. And it looks like I've lost your application too, shit. This must look very professional to you. Tommy laughed.
- It's okay. Kitty said all confused.
- Right, I'm just gonna have to ask you all the things all over again. Hope you don't mind? Tommy said and took a pen and paper from his drawer. Kitty shook her head.
- So, Kitty... Tommy said and wrote something on his paper. How much experience do you have on this field, like waiting, bar tending and so on?
- I... I... Kitty had to pull herself together and just go with it. I used to work in a cafe for few years after I turned 16 and after that I worked weekends at a near by pub but I quit after I graduated into a profession.
- Which profession?
- I'm a hairdresser. I've been working in beauty salons ...till now.
- Why not anymore?
- I... my life... My life is in a place where I need like a new direction, you know.
- Well I sure know what that's like. Tommy smirked.
- You're from Jersey, right? Tommy asked.
- I guess it's that obvious, huh. Kitty rolled her eyes.
- Yeah. If you wish to work up here you have to clean up your look, if you know what I mean. Take off all the bling and other cheap jewelry. Tame down that hair - hairdresser - put it on a ponytail and go much smaller with it. Could you take off the extensions or would that be too big of a job? Tommy asked and Kitty shook her head again. Her cheap hair extensions were clip on's.
- I'm not saying you'll get a job at here but if you did, you'd deffo have to do all those things. Tommy said and Kitty understood.
- This is a nice place, classy place. People up here spend big money on having a good time and we have a certain image we have to maintain. Other than that you seem like a nice personality and you're a cute girl, just what we are looking for. And I feel so bad for losing all your papers I feel like I need to make that up to you somehow. Kitty nodded.
- So how would you feel about coming up here tomorrow night and taking a test run? You could bring your resume and all the other papers. And we'd see how this works for you and us. We're going to have some other new girls trying out then too so you wouldn't be alone. Obviously we wouldn't hire all of you, but...
- Sure, I get it. Sounds fair enough. Kitty answered.
