#16/1 Chances pass by too quick

As soon as Kitty's next break started she walked straight to the break room and opened the window. She just had to push her head outside for fresh air. Not that air in New York is that fresh ever but what ever, she figured. Trying to breathe for a while she had to remind her why she had gotten into this in the first place. She didn't come this far just to back down. She needed to talk a vampire, any vampire. And there were two sitting right in her reach. Kitty couldn't set aside the fact that these vampires were like the other she had seen. These were miles away from the blood junkies like Nigel and Debbie lurking in the dark alleys hidden from everybody to see. These vampires were cocky, confident, not afraid to be seen which could only mean that they were strong and dangerous if crossed. If Kitty wanted to have a conversation with them she needed to be really really careful.

But the bottom line was no matter how scared Kitty was or how dangerous it could be, Kitty had to find Alex. She was aching every moment just thinking about all that had happened. People do disappear sometimes and it doesn't always mean there has to be something supernatural behind it, but taking the situation in consideration Kitty knew normal police investigation could just not solve this disappearance. Kitty refused to think that the last time she saw Alex could have been the last time period. What Kitty needed to do right now was to get herself together and do what she needed to do. There might not be a next chance. Kitty was so nervous that if somebody had offered her a cigarette or a shot of tequila right then and there she would've taken it. Even though she didn't smoke, and she wasn't supposed to drink during work.

When the break was over Kitty walked back full with determination. She still didn't feel confident about all this but she was sure she had to do this now or never. But as she walked back to the club bar she saw through the glass walls of the cabinet that the vampires weren't sitting there anymore.
- Oh, no...
- What? Sandy asked.
- Where are those two...?
- They just left like a second ago. Don't worry I haven't cleared the table yet, you can go and collect the tip and all... Kitty get on her feet immediately. Maybe she wasn't too late. Maybe she could still catch them. Vampires are quick and good at disappearing but if it truly was a second ago they could't have gone far. Kitty ran to the exit.
